The Vodavani Lodge is the primary seat of the Pathfinder Society within the nation of Ustalav, located in the mist-shrouded capital city of Caliphas. Historically a significant center for regional lore, it has recently transformed into a vital staging ground for recovery efforts following the fall of Lastwall.

The lodge is defined by a sense of harried urgency. Visitors are immediately met with a “cacophony rising from dozens of Pathfinders discussing missions, sharing documents, and gathering supplies”. This feverish activity is driven by the influx of refugees from the Gravelands and the Society’s desperate race to salvage irreplaceable texts, artwork, and historical artifacts from the ruins of Lastwall before they are lost to Tar-Baphon’s undead legions.

Strategic Role #

The lodge currently serves as the base of operations for missions into the Gravelands. Its primary objectives include:

• Artifact Recovery: Extracting relics to ensure that the culture and history of Lastwall survive its physical destruction.
• Rescue Missions: Tracking missing Pathfinder agents who disappeared during the initial undead onslaught.
• Intelligence Gathering: Monitoring the movements of the Whispering Way and the Gargantuan zombie amalgams that prowl the borders of Ustalav.

Key Figures #

• Venture-Captain Evni Zongnoss: Resolute and experienced, she coordinated the evacuation of Vigil before its fall. She now uses the Vodavani Lodge as her temporary headquarters, delegating high-stakes missions into the heart of the Gravelands.

• Dr. Beaurigmand Trice: The founder and director of the Havenguard Lunatic Asylum. His medical hospice provides a unique boon to the Society, offering support and shelter for agents operating in the region.

The Havenguard Connection #

The lodge maintains a deep connection with the Havenguard Lunatic Asylum, an unusual hospital that spreads its “batlike wings” across the crumbling cliffs overlooking Caliphas.

• Under the direction of its founder, the dedicated but locally slandered Dr. Beaurigmand Trice, the asylum’s physicians attempt to protect, understand, and heal without the aid of expensive magical interventions.

Dr. Trice’s dual role as a medical pioneer and a Pathfinder Venture-Captain creates a symbiotic relationship between the asylum’s facilities and the Society’s regional operations. While the public often views the hospital with suspicion, it remains one of the few places in Caliphas where Pathfinders can find reliable allies and a respite from the city’s pervasive fog and political intrigue.
