Overview #

Located deep within the smoke-stained, working-class industrial suburbs of Orcania, the 3D Grapplers’ Union Hall is a massive, repurposed warehouse that serves as the beating heart of the region’s unarmed combat scene. From the outside, it is an unassuming structure of brick and heavy timber, marked only by a battered wooden sign depicting a gnomish fist smashing through a tower shield. Inside, however, it is a temple of chaotic, high-impact martial arts.

The Hall is overseen by Union Boss “Titan” Terry Dudley, whose booming voice can usually be heard echoing from the rafters, barking orders at trainees and demanding perfection in their footwork and grapples.

Points of Interest #

The Main Sparring Floor #

The vast center of the warehouse is dominated by three raised, heavily reinforced sparring rings. The canvas is stained with years of sweat and the occasional drop of blood, while the ropes are woven from thick, nautical-grade hemp designed to withstand the weight of an enraged orc being thrown against them. The floor surrounding the rings is covered in dense sawdust to absorb the impact of fighters being hurled entirely out of the bounds of the ring.

The “Prop” Armory #

Unlike traditional dojos that feature racks of finely balanced katanas or polished halberds, the Union Hall’s armory is a chaotic collection of blunt-force trauma tools. It is packed to the ceiling with battered, retired military tower shields, heavily reinforced wooden tables, and cold-iron folding chairs. Terry teaches his students that anything in a tavern can be a weapon, and this room is where they learn how to break those objects over an opponent’s back safely and effectively.

Terry’s Office #

Overlooking the main floor is a cramped, glass-fronted office completely cluttered with union paperwork, uncollected dues, and bail-bonds for members who took a tavern brawl too far. Behind a massive oak desk—which Terry can barely see over without standing on a crate—the Union Boss negotiates contracts, ensuring that nobles and tavern owners pay his fighters fair hazard rates. The walls are plastered with faded, magical projections and posters of legendary wrestling matches from decades past.

The Ice Box (Recovery Ward) #

Tucked into the back corner of the warehouse is the clinic, affectionately dubbed “The Ice Box.” Because high-level healing magic is expensive and union dues only stretch so far, the clinic relies heavily on mundane medicine. It is perpetually stocked with massive blocks of ice, tubs of strong-smelling alchemical salves, and minor healing potions. It is usually manned by a grumpy, overworked acolyte of Kurgess (or a very practical chirurgeon) who spends their days setting dislocated shoulders and taping bruised ribs.
