Hollow Hatch

Overview #

The Hollow Hatch is a name whispered in the soot-choked alleys of Ashtown—a local urban legend that has persisted in Caliphas for decades. To the constabulary, it is a boogeyman invented by the superstitious poor to explain away the district’s high rate of disappearances. To the residents of the tenements, however, it is a very real, shapeless fear.

The name is often used as a catch-all term for the unexplained tragedies of the city. When a child vanishes near Ipston’s Cross, or a worker enters the sewers and never returns, locals say they have “fallen down the Hollow Hatch.”
